On the twelfth day of Christmas,

toshizo sent to me...

Twelve cigars drumming

Eleven canes piping

Ten animals a-leaping

Nine guns dancing

Eight watches a-milking

Seven billards a-hunting

Six pocketwatches a-gardening

Five dre-e-e-eaded articles

Four rose gardens

Three hunting rifles

Two kanesada swords

...and a bakufu in a lizzie.

Yes, first mistake goes to me. I have been calling "Charles Pemberton" by the name "George Pemberton".

To explain this error, the reason Hijikata would think of him as "George Pemberton" is because he was going by that name during the time he lived in India. His full name is now Charles George Pemberton, so it was his middle name. However in England there is another "George" - Dr. George C(hristopher) Holcroft. In order to avoid confusion, Pemberton began to go by his first name in London. Of course, since Hijikata knew him before, he still sometimes thinks of him as "George Pemberton".

Since Day 1 is finally about to draw to a close, I thought I would post some of my thoughts on where Hijikata is going. He hasn't exactly turned out the way I intended. Nor surprising. Characters tend to take on a life of their own.

Tying a guy upside down, driving nails into the soles of his feet, putting candles on them and lighting them is not "extreme", damn you!

Current Mood: annoyed annoyed

I grunt softly as the pressure in my side rouses me from sleep. Raising my groggy head, I glance about to find Soji curled up in the bed next to me with both of his feet shoved into my ribcage. Wearily I push them away.

"Soji if you're going to insist on crawling into bed with me every morning, at least learn to sleep on your own side," I mutter. He only yawns and rolls over so that his back is to me. Hmph. Nice to know he takes my words so seriously.
